Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today. (That's 25 of you on Route 50 alone!) Anyway, today was my 18th birthday, my Eagle Project was thankfully done last Saturday, and now I can focus on schoolwork again.

Of course, that isn't exactly a piece of cake either. My grades have been slipping to the point that I'm in danger of losing my college admission. But it's easy to deal with; there's two or three choice assignments that can pull up my Japapese grade if I turn them in. Nonetheless, writings may be delayed until graduation. But I promise that I'll kick off writings with a piece from the Sparkleaf Chronicles.

Of course if you've been to the not-so-secret page on this site, you already know what it's about. No matter. I'll be quite glad to see PF Captives and Firefox get a move on again... and yes, LotE may be again shunted aside as a result. But I swear I'll finish LotE some day.

And then of course there's voting, Selective Services, driver's license, and a job to deal with. But one step at a time.

CaR

I may need to rewrite CaR completely (actually no I won't, I don't have time) because the story of Team Retrievers is extremely different. For one thing, Sparktail and Thalia are no longer the heroes of Temporal Tower. Sparktail isn't even a Pokemon-turned human. They're not even the founders of the team.

Team Retrievers began with Ilun the Zigzagoon and Cor the Riolu. Over time, Ilun and Cor went on a series of adventures together and became a renowned team. Some time after evolving into a Linoone, Ilun fell in love with a Leafeon, who later gave birth to Thalia.

Sparktail was born to Ellen and Thesus Lightning. At level 10 (relative to a 7-year-old human), he was sent to Treasure Town to make a living. Ilun took him into his home, where he met Thalia- and Sylvia, Ilun's neighbor.

Elias, the Time Gear Thief, traveled back in time with a group of friends. Of all the heroes seeking to undo the planet's paralysis, only Elias retained his memories. Elias's friends included River, Vulcan, Sir Tane, Cory, and Ilun's wife.

Originally, Sparktail had a crush on Sylvia, and was with her when she found her Relic Fragment. However, they drifted apart because Sparktail was a member of Team Retrievers. Ilun was the reason Sylvia wanted to be an explorer. Sylvia later found River the Mudkip on the beach, and they formed Team Storm. Team Storm and Team Retrievers are in an alliance of sorts; Team Storm is usually accompanied by  members of Retrievers.

Now "Calling All Retrievers", as I said before, contains references to events that no longer happen. What happened was this: During the Time Gear crisis, Elias (the Time Gear thief) had actually traveled with a group of friends into the past, not just one. The one with the Dimensional Scream is River; he and Sylvia are the guild apprentices.

Later on, after catching Elias and sending him back to the future, Dusknoir dragged four Pokemon into the time-portal: Vulcan, Sylvia, River, and Tane. Team Retrievers was there to greet their return later on, instead of an abandoned Sharpedo Bluff. Members also dispersed to fetch each the Gears, instead of Elias collecting them all.

All of Team Retrievers and Team Storm traveled to the Hidden Land. However, one by one, members of each team began to fall in battle, and either died or were sent back home. Cor was killed in the battle against Dusknoir, who Sparktail and Thalia never fought. Five made it to the top of Temporal Tower: Sparktail, Thalia, Ilun, River, and Sylvia. Ilun died in the final battle against Dialga, but the tower was successfully saved.

The events in CaR occur just as before, except that there is no Wave and no Manaphy. Instead, a newly graduated River and Sylvia accompany Sparktail and Thalia against the Time Tripper.

I obviously don't have time to redo CaR. But I think I'll insert random flashbacks from CaR in Retriever to explain the true story. Oh yeah, and Retriever is going to be a quick short story for now- since even LotE isn't done.

Click here to read Chapter 42!

I encourage everyone to read this chapter, even those who don't normally read LotE, simply because it illustrates the way the characters are all supposed to be in such an excellent way. Full steam ahead! ...Hopefully.

REAL LIFE
is kicking me in the crotch. Eagle project, time's running out. Japanese make-up work, time's also running out. As a warning, writing production will become extremely slow (if it doesn't halt altogether) until my birthday.

Progress on the Eagle project is going good, though. Right now, I'm ready to put in the pavers and all the other necessary installation materials (sand, edging, edging stakes) in the area. But the main enemy here is time, just as it's always been.

STORY QUEUE
- LotE Chapter 42 (I'm trying to rush LotE)
- Saga Episode 21 and 22
- Dragon's Dance
- PF Captives- Firefox Chapter 5

Chapter 41 of LotE is posted! This chapter features Sootopolis City and all the stuff that Lyther's been doing there. He's one pretty busy Pokemon, even if he has a rather irritating and fallacious trust in the legendaries... We also see Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza as the New Retrievers finally return the three Orbs of Hoenn to their masters.

Chapter 26 also recieved a partial rewrite. Sparktail has taken another step away from Gary-Stu status! No more sacred healing or defeating Dialga on his own now... Lute's stepped up to the plate and Sparktail is not alone in this battle. Go Lute x3

UPDATE March 31:
Chapters 20 and 37 have been revised slightly. Thalia now recieves Skyrein and Skeruin in Chapter 20, while Torrid "re-tempers" said weapons in chapter 37. I will eventually be editing the chapters in between to account for Thalia having her swords throughout part III and part IV.

...then I took an arrow to the knee.

Perch Log: March 3, 2012
Sparklein: Still haven't eaten ewe
RubyPikachu: those starvers >:U
Sparklein: Also I made the most ridiculous guacamole

Sparklein: Because the avacado is unripe
Sparklein: ...Whenever I use too much sour cream, I take some food coloring to make it look more green >.>
RubyPikachu: ...X3
Sparklein: only this time... ALL the green came from the food coloring because I couldn't mash any the avacado
RubyPikachu: ...X,D
RubyPikachu: You should be a chef.

Tace: *leans against the couch* I'm in no mood for humor...
Sparklein: yes >__> And my 5-star "half-baked chicken wings" will be my specialty dish
RubyPikachu: X,3 Oh spark
RubyPikachu: Along with burnt toasties and soured apple juice, I presume?
Sparklein: thankfully not the apple juice xD
Sparklein: but all the lemonade would have a thick layer of powder at the bottom...
Tace: Served with a fine shaker of salt that was replaced by sugar as a prank.
RubyPikachu: <w< I thought you said you were in no mood for humor.
Sparklein: oh no, not a prank- I really am that bad at cooking xP
Sparklein: or lazy

Flight
There were these ruins. I don't know where they came from; they were in a large stretch of arid grassland. I flew off on a large bird that was not a Skarmory- it reminded me of a Loftwing.

From the sky I could see an enemy fort at the foot of some mountains in the northwest. Far`to the south were rocky shores and the ocean. The sky had grown dark and I knew danger was coming. I flew northeast and down, into a massive cavern tunnel; there were allies on the edge of my vision.

My enemies were at large, and I knew it. But daylight was approaching and time was short to stop them; as the dawn came, I saw light and enemies began to awaken all around me. I don't remember how- but I got into a dwelling. I didn't jump off my steed; I may have landed but I cannot remember.

The first room reminded me of my room, but it looked more like my sister's room. It had a friend of my sister's who was doing her nails. But she went berserk and started attacking me as I approached her, before I could get away. She attacked me because I was trying to activate some device in a mirror on the counter, I think. We fought... struggled into a room that looked like  the Skyview Temple's central chamber... and I threw her down into the water, where she drowned.

I remember going into the next room, which looked like my kitchen/dining room. I saw my brother there and there was only a little food on the table; he was telling me not to eat it. Or to spit out the food. I can't remember.

I'm sure quite a few people know that if you hover over the "SL Logbook" link in the navigation bar, you'll notice a story only labeled "Chronicles". This story is the S+L Chronicles, and it's a semi-private story of mine. It's continuous with all and any Internet-based stories that I write, but it's not about the Internet really. It's more of a personal story that will incorporate all the people I know- Scouting, Route 50, and from real life. There's also at least four fictional characters- Kayla and Ringmaster from Lightning Retriever, and then Abigail and Traelia. Traelia is basically a Raileaf / anthro Raichu, similar to Thalia Leaflight, except that she's less idealistic.

Abigail, however, is a rather kinky Absol who controls a substance called Sheathrin, which is a form of liquid latex. It's not really alive, the way Imulsion is, but it can move on its own. In its raw form, Sheathrin acts as a catalyst in transformations. In its refined form, it'll cover a victim's body in a layer of semi-fluid rubber, forcing them into obedience. Now if you've ever been on FA, you would know what direction that would take. Suffice to say, Abigail is the reason the story can never go on Route 50.

Abigail does show up in RouteCtrl; and yes, it's the same Abigail, but she's been toned down greatly- to PG-13 at worst. She's not really a villain, although it should be stated that she does have an somewhat antagonistic role in the Chronicles.

I've never really said this directly- but of all my stories so far, LotE is the only one that was meant to be symbolic from start to end (Chessfield will be symbolic as well, but it's not started yet). So... suppose I didn't go with the Four Horsemen angle for Giratina and his underlings. There's more than four lieutenants, anyway- if you count Omega, Regigigas, and Heatran.

There's a lot of names for various demons, like the Seven Princes of Hell for example. To be honest, I was influenced by Good Omens (by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett) when I named the lieutenants after the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
